Comments not showing on posts

    I posted this on the theme’s support forum as well but it hasn’t been tended to in two years. This issue has apparently been happening through various versions of WP over the years but i’m taking this job over for a client who’s other web designer passed away.

    As you can see at the bottom of this post (for example, they all show this way… https://daveschilelives.com/2023/10/will-chileans-agree-on-a-new-constitution/) the comment COUNT shows up, the WRITE a comment area shows but the comments themselves are not showing up. There’s a space there like it wants to, but the comments themselves are not rendering.

    This site does not use blocks. I have checked the code but I know I am missing something. Can someone help me figure out the issue and a fix?

    It’s a now unsupported theme (the author seems to be no where to be found online these days) but it’s a theme that works (except for this comment issue) and it’s one my client wants to stay with.

    I would be more than happy to try and assist you.

    This does seem to be a theme issue rather than a wp issue. However, I did inspect your page using google and the post that has the most popular post, search and resent post on the right side bar, are missing these side bar widgets on the page you are having a problem with.

    Was this a newly created page or an old one? If you create a new page do these widgets appear?

    Hi @joecoyle,

    They don’t show because they weren’t there. I added some widgets in the widgets area for the sidebar of post pages. They show now.

    However interestingly, while I added the “comments” widget to the After Post section and it shows properly in the widgets area with no errors, it doesn’t show anywhere on a single post page.

    What am I missing?

    (This is a theme problem, for sure, but I wasn’t getting any assistance on the theme support page so I escalated it to this forum.)
