    Hi.

I have discovered that the contact forms I have been using (forminator free) don’t send a form submission through to my email. I have spoken to my service provider and they advised I try an smtp connection using their webmail as well.
I have set up wp mail using the launch wizard but that doesn’t work either . So neither the forminator contact form, nor the wpmailtest email works on my site. I placed a question in WordPress forum and it was suggested that I ask here. I get an error message when I send a wptest email. The forminator form eventually arrives at my website, but I don’t get notification of that.. I don’t know which way to turn now…or .where the issue lies. Is there a permission on my website I need to enable. I just go round in circles. Also, when the form is filled in it takes far too long to send. Can anyone suggest anything I might try? TIA debs

Also…there seems to be no way of adding recpatcha enterprise in the forminator fields?

    Hi @debs44

    I hope you’re well today!

I understand that you already have e-mail notifications set for your form in form’s “Email Notifications” section, right?

Suggestion to use SMTP is a good suggestion and I would recommend it too. This is because by default – without SMTP – a PHP mailing functions are used by WordPress and they are based on the standard server basic mailing system.

This often has some limitations – e.g. limits on the number of messages that can be sent daily or hourly and/or restrictions (imposed by the host) on from what e-mail addresses/domains e-mails can be sent etc. That can cause issues with form notifications but also other e-mail notifications.

SMTP is way more reliable and “independent” and it usually solves most of such issues.

However, the fact that even a test e-mail from the SMTP plugin doesn’t work means that this isn’t really an issue with Forminator only but rather with SMTP configuration in the plugin.

    Just to make sure:

    1. aside from simply installing and enabling the plugin – you did configure SMTP credentials (hostname, port, login/password etc) in it, right?

    2. are you sure those credentials are correct (note: please DO NOT share any credentials with us!)?

    3. when you try to send test e-mail from the SMTP plugin – does it give you any error message other than just “failed” and if yes, what exactly that message says?

    4. I’m not sure which SMTP plugin are you using exactly but does it have some sort of “Email log” built-in and if yes, could you look into that log and check if there’s option to see “transcript” or “SMTP session”? If there is, could you check and share what exactly it it says for such failed test e-mail?

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hiya Kasia.

well…my issue has been temporarily resolved by my host provider by suggesting a completely different form widget…which is working. But it only allows one free form and I wanted to do a subscription form as well. However…the real problem had not been solved….(why forminator and wpmail don’t work) …. I am hoping to work through Adam’s suggestions when I can come to this in a fresh way because it’s been driving me mad! So… I might need to come back and ask further questions, if that’s ok.
    Best wishes

    Debs

    Adam.

Many thanks for your thorough response. I agree that it’s possibly not the form itself that is the problem, I will work through your suggestions.

    Thanks again.

    Best wishes.Debs.
