Author page is 404 Not Found?

So I’ve seen numerous threads, but no solutions on this that work for me.

I have just installed WordPress 3.0.1 and was clicking around the twentyten theme to see if all the links work, but clicking the author name on the Post creates a 404 Not Found page.

I tried changing the Profile settings to no avail.

It seems that the permalink structure affects it. I go to default and it works, but when I change to /%postname%/ it breaks.

Do I need to change code somewhere? I’d rather not do that for every site I set up and this seems to be a bug.

I’m pretty new to WordPress and PHP so any help is greatly appreciated.
