• I’m setting up a blog for the first time and want to allow visitors to leave comments. I believe that I’ve activated all the correct settings to allow this to happen, but unfortunately, when testing it, I find that “I’m being greeted” by a NOT FOUND message. What is the source of the problem and how do I correct it. As well, I presume that I will be informed of any comments being left, thereby, allowing me to either authorize the comment or reject it. How will that work? Thanks.

Try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

If that doesn’t work, please provide a link to your blog so we can investigate.

Thanks for your reply. As I hadn’t played with the Permalinks, I was surprised to find this short string in the custom field /%postname%/
Perhaps it was put there by default, but either way, I selected Month and Name and saved the changes. Unfortunately, that didn’t resolve the problem, but neither did wp return any manual instructions.

Having said that, from reading the explanation by wp as to what Permalinks are, I would conclude that it’s probably best to use a Custom Structure, if not for the aesthetics then perhaps for improving SEO.

First things first though, here is the link to my website PhotographyByMiguel.com

Any help and direction vis a vis Custom Structures would also be appreciated. Thank you.

What you choose for your structure is really more of a personal decision. There are some articles which state that ending with your post name is best for SEO and an equal number stating that you should end with a numeric value. Refer to this for more info:
