Installing WP through subdomain?

    trying to install wordpress through a subdomain.

    i have one site hosted and wordpress works fine with out.

    i have another site that is ran through a subdirectory in that site.

    i want to be able to install wordpress on the subdomain, i have created a separate database, and uploaded the wp files to the site but it doesnt work when i go to

    mydomain/wordpress/wp-config.php

    sorry if my terms are off. any help appreciated.
