Remove category option / 404

    Hello @stefanp44

    Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. Changing your permalinks settings can seriously impact your search engine visibility. It should be thought-through before making any changes.

    Do you currently have the option turned ON or OFF? What do you want to stick with? To show the categories prefix in the slug or to have it removed?

    I wanted it removed: the site is still under construction so no problem about being indexed at the time being.

    I ran several tests and none of them worked: deactivating Yoast, switching to a WordPress default theme, deactivating Wordfence, switching back to PHP 7.4.

    Ultimately I restored a database backup from this morning, made the change (removing the category prefix) and everything went fine.
