    Whenever I make a new post which is featured on my blog’s homepage https://andersonstockphotos.com , google seems to index it & it ranks well for my chosen keywords, often in the 1st position.

    But as soon as I update the homepage with a new featured post which replaces the previous one, google doesn’t seem to recognize or index the older post.

    For example, the keywords “hill tribe stock photos” would get me 1st position whilst my “Photographing Thailands Hill Tribes” post was featured on the homepage. But now that it is not featured on the homepage the post’s (permalink) page https://andersonstockphotos.com/thailands-hill-tribes/ doesn’t even show in the first ten pages of search results. The same story is for all of my other posts. When they do show up in the results, it is only due to their caption on my homepage, not due to their own post page.

    Hope this is making sense as I am fairly new to this!

    Does anyone have a suggestion onwhy this would be happening & how I can get my individual post pages indexed by Google?

  • I’ve been having the same problems ever since I moved from wordpress.com to self host. When I was on wordpress.com my individual posts ranked high on google, but now they’ve disappeared completely and only the home page, pages, tags, or categories seem to show up on google. Does anybody know why? I’ve been blogging the same way as I used to

    me too have the problem like @teepo and just realize it couple weeks ago. my individual post used to be on the first page of google search result but now google only show pages, categories & tags instead my individual post.

    does anybody have some info about this? are there something we can do with our wordpress setting?

    thanks in advance.

    I solved this problem in my case by switching to a new host. I was using Go Daddy but after a few other host-related problems, I decided to switch to Blue Host & within a few days Google has now picked up my individual posts again.

    Hope this helps.

    @marc,

    I just took a look at the HTML code for your blog.

    These are the only keywords I saw:

    <meta name="keywords" content="stock photos, images, photographer" />

    You have extremely few categories and tags after each blog post. Google can’t index your blog posts if you don’t include keywords in the HTML code or in the tags after each post.

    If you know how to write HTML code, I can tell you an additional way to enter keywords so that Google and other search engines can find your site.

    Daisy,

    thanks for the tips – I will get to work adding some categories & tags, it was something I had done on my previous blog but when I migrating to a new host I have obviously forgot to do a few things.

    I know basic HTML – what would you suggest re: entering keywords for Google 2 pick up?

    Also what would u suggest re: metaname / keywords?

    thanks
