Hi, I have noticed a conflict with the AMP plugin relating to the images in the mega menu, but only when the screen is full size (not a smartphone or tablet. That is, when AMP is deactivated the images in the mega menu display, but strangely the related CSS code does not take effect on the images.

When I reactivate the AMP plugin the images will not display on normal screens, but they will display on smartphone screens alongside the CSS code.?

Would anyone have any ideas or recommendations?

    Thanks!

    Hello @dfsdkjbhf983789hjckd

Thank you for contacting us, As I checked your site I think it’s more of CSS issue rather than AMP, I tried to debug the issues but was unable to debug it.

I will recommend contacting a styling expert who can help you with it.

BTW, You can use the amp-mega-menu component to add Mega menu on AMP pages.

Sorry we can’t be more of assistance on this one!

    Hi, thanks for your response.

Respectively, I doubt the issue is a styling issue for three reasons.

    1. I contacted the theme provider (Themeisle) about this exact issue, and they tried to debug the issue using their parrot service to no avail.
    2. Upon deactivation of the AMP plugin, the images within the mega menu immediately display on non-smartphone screens (but not with the CSS for some reason). Then, after reactivating the plugin the images disappear (but not on smartphone screens). Moreover, all the CSS code functions accordingly, so I doubt that my CSS code is lacking (but I am not discounting this).
    3. I’m fairly advanced in CSS, and after having gone over the code many times, my only other suspicion is a plugin or theme conflict. However, my theme, Neve Pro, is very lightweight and I chose it specifically for its AMP compatibility.

That being said, could you please provide more information regarding this: “BTW, You can use the amp-mega-menu component to add Mega menu on AMP pages.” I would really want to know about this.

    Thank you again

    Hello @dfsdkjbhf983789hjckd

AMP does not allow more than 75kb of CSS on a page, so AMP plugin uses CSS tree-shaking a kind of optimization where it find critical CSS, in you case it may be removing CSS that belongs to hidden elements, you can learn more about AMP and CSS in our documentation

The reason why we recommend using amp-mega-menu component instead is because it retains CSS that is being added to CSS components.

You may contact the plugin or theme author which adds a mega menu feature to your site and ask them to make it AMP compatible using the AMP component.

    We hope this is helpful!
