    Hello,

when I do a search via the central search bar on my site and click on validate, on the right-hand side I have a black block with a search box which opens a menu for searching the internet on my site. This problem appears when I have the site kit plugin active, if I deactivate the plugin it disappears, and I can’t get it removed.

How can i delete this search bar in my website ?

    Thanks !

Thanks for reaching out @genesisalpha. When viewing your site at present I don’t see any search bar as per your first screenshot, although I do see a search box to the right of your navigation menu which seems to be working as expected (screenshot).

To troubleshoot this further, can you let me know if I should this search box, or whether you have it disabled temporarily? You can share a recording of your experience if you wish. You can use a service such as Imgur or Jumpshare to share a screenshot, while using this form to share this privately, along with your Site Health information.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. ?

Appreciate you sharing the recording, very useful to see what’s occurring. As nothing obvious stands out from the checks I’ve been performing on your site, can you temporarily deactivate Site Kit and let me know once this has been done? I’ll then check the source of this Search box.

Once I run some checks on your site, I’ll let you know when you can reactivate Site Kit once more. It should only take a few minutes for me to check this search box.

Appreciate you sharing this additional information @genesisalpha. As nothing obvious stands out, please follow the steps below:

    1. Login to your live site from a Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
    5. Enable your active theme by clicking on the “Available Themes” tab
    6. Check does the same error exist with only Site Kit and your current theme active

While letting me know of the above, please also share your Site Health information using this form. That way I can check for plugins related to your theme which may also be contributing to this.

Hello, it’s impossible to activate site kit when i’am in troobleshoot mod. The option “Enable during troobleshoot” is invisible for site kit plugin, but other plugins, it’s visible

Thanks for the update @genesisalpha. I can’t be sure why you can’t activate Site Kit in troubleshooting mode. To investigate this further, please share your Site Health information using this form.

    Hello, it’s done ??

Thanks for the update @genesisalpha. From reviewing your Site Health information I don’t see anything obvious that may be causing the Search Bar to appear only with Site Kit active.

With regards not being able to enable/disable the plugin in troubleshooting mode, this is likely due to Site Kit being deactivated on your site.

I’m happy to perform some additional tests on your site if you wish to activate Site Kit once more. When activating Site Kit, please ensure that only the Search Console module is active. You can disable any additional modules via “Site Kit > Edit > Analytics / Tag Manager > Edit > Disconnect“.

Note also that when Site Kit is activated once more, you can perform the troubleshooting checks once more, as suggested above.

Hello, so i disconnect one by one plugins in site kit, and it’s google adsence which cause the problem with search bar. When activated, the search bar appear, when deactivated, the search bar disapear ??

    (@jamesosborne)

Nice troubleshooting @genesisalpha. It’s not uncommon to encounter some layout shifts in relation to ads, however, when I check your site both with or without Site Kit active I don’t encounter any search box to the right of your logo. I only see this within the menu bar, making it hard to troubleshoot.

What you may wish to do, to confirm that this issue is specific to ads and not specifically Site Kit, is to place your AdSense code manually, and then deactivate Site Kit. Alternatively, if you can make another recording from a Chrome browser incognito window, with your Chrome developer tools open. That way it may indicate the markup related to your search box.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Hello, always the same problem, i test in other theme, same problem, i test in incognito windows, same problem. With element inspector, i don’t found to track the plugin or anther element which cause this problem :/ It’s very strange

    (@jamesosborne)

Very strange indeed @genesisalpha. Depending on your theme layout, it’s not uncommon for ads to result in some type of layout shift. I still don’t see any such search bar when checking your site (screenshot), so I can’t determine the source of this search bar. If you are able to share the markup associated with this search bar, I can determine if it’s added via your theme. If so, you may wish to reach out to your theme provider and ask about any such AdSense code conflict.
