    Hi there

I’ve found WordPress to have terrible breadcrumbs in general (they always put the homepage at the top and ignore the current page and other such weirdness) and so I was pleased to see the feature here with all the options.

But now I’ve come to try it out, it’s also not quite right.

    All I need is:
Top-level page (not homepage) > Post title.

    But what I’m getting is:
Top-level page > Post category > Post title.

And because my page name is the same as my category name and I only have one category, the actual output looks like this:
Locations > Locations > Location title

I was using the Astra breadcrumb feature which shows:
Home > Locations > Location title

That’s good, but it doesn’t let me hide the home link.

So the suggestion for SmartCrawl is to be able to optionally hide the page name and the categories from the breadcrumb, much like you already provide the option to hide/show the homepage and the post title.

Alternatively, a template field for the full breadcrumb trail would be great. Then one could just create whatever sequence one wants.

Just a suggestion in any case. I’ll carry on with the Astra one for now as it’s just a little closer to what I need.
    Thanks heaps
    Rob

    Hi @robaxxx,

I hope you are doing well today!

Thank you for taking the time to provide valuable feedback on our SmartCrawl breadcrumbs feature. We take user suggestions very seriously and truly appreciate opinions that help us in improving our product.

I understand the issue you are facing- with the overlapping of the page name and category name, the breadcrumb tends to look a bit redundant. Your idea to make the page name and categories optional, similar to how it is with the homepage and the post title, sounds like an extremely efficient solution to this issue.

We will bring this up with our development team and discuss the possibility of implementing it in our future updates. Once again, thank you for your kind suggestion. We constantly strive to perfect our products and suggestions like these play a huge role in that process.

    Kind regards,
    Zafer
