Front Page Customisation

Hi everyone,

I just installed WordPress and it is confusing the hell out of me at the moment. Basically what I am struggling with right now is this:

Now, where it says “Hello World,” I want to get rid of the extra space above there, so that it lines up with my “links” part.

With the links part, I want to make it so that the links come under different headers – is that possible?
