/shop: “Forbidden – You don’t have permission to access this resource”

I am seen this error in context with WooCommerce. Never had a file permission problem before… I deactivated all plugins except WooCommerce, Classic Editor.. the error stays the same. I have seen it first when emptied the cart and hit “return to shop” – I get a white screen immediately. I have administrator rights… however, even if I hadnt – the customer should be able to return to the shop page.

WooCommerce Log was empty.

As for the config log there is repeatedly only one entry:

that might have to do with the theme, but I have same theme, different URL, also with WooCommerce, and almost the same setup (except the recently installed staging environment) – and there is no such error at the same URL/link…
I dont even use the /shop page at the moment… its been redirected to a different URL (caegory)…

Hi @aovivo

It might be a problem with one of your plugin settings or a server issue. I tried accessing your main website from my end, but I couldn’t get through – 403 Forbidden error.

I recommend that you start by disabling all your plugins, except WooCommerce, and then check your website. If this resolves the issue, you can then proceed to reactivate the other plugins one by one. This will help you pinpoint the source of the problem.

If the problem persists, it would be best to get in touch with your Hosting provider. They have the capability to access your files and correct any permission issues.

As another option, you could also consider installing WordPress and everything else from scratch to see if this resolves the issue.

Updated: After spending a little more time on your website, I guess disabling the NinjaFirewall (WP+) plugin or changing its settings could resolve your issue.

Hi, the error you getting is a Geo Firewall setting, depends on from where you are accesing it might block your IP…

However, I made a duplicate on a staging site with a different theme and builder, same issue… I have already done that, deactivating plugins.. changing themes, etc…I guess I have to try to change the shop URL with a filter.. I haven’t tried that… but asking the Hoster is the next step. we are on a powerful managed server, so I can check on some values… its still weird as it always worked till last two weeks…

I know it’s not something that sticks to memory, but do you remember if you installed or updated a plugin during this time?

Additionally, please contact your hosting provider and ask if they have a server event log. It might assist you in identifying if any changes were made to the permissions of a particular plugin file, and so on.

Hi thanks – as I said… I deinstalled everything but woocommerce…
I usually had a redirect (via plugin) on /shop because I didn use that slug…

I know there is some filter/hook somewhere and that I can alter the .htaccess… which (the latter) I have already done.

I cant tell you what really changed… nothing server-side for sure..
However it would be helpful if we could change the alternative /shop name in backend of WooCommerce someday…

Sorry for missing this part from your previous reply, you can definitely change the slug or the page itself. Just head to WooCommerce > Settings > Products > General:
