From your description, it seems like there’s a discrepancy between the quantity of items ordered, and the quantity displayed in the order section, and it’s not repeatable as you mentioned. Can you tell how many times have you encountered it already?

If the issue is not consistently repeatable, it could be due to a specific set of conditions that cause the bug to appear. It might be beneficial to check if there are any specific steps that cause this issue to appear.

In the meantime, I recommend updating your WooCommerce plugin to the latest version if you haven’t already. Bug-like issues can be resolved simply by updating the plugin as we continuously work on bug fixes and improvements.

• System Status Report: navigate to WooCommerce → Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

Thank you. I’m seeing the problem maybe 10 times over the last 4 months – less than 5% of orders. There seems to be nothing consistant as to how it gets there – there’s certainly nothing connecting the orders.

Thank you for sharing the logs!

So, only one item was ordered (as shown in the shipping section), but 2 has appeared in the order section.

Circling back to this part, could you please attach a few screenshots of where the correct and faulty quantities are showing?

If I knew the code where the shipping list and the order lists are created, I might be able to undersatnd why one quantity is correct, and the other isn’t.

I understand that the WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping Plus: by mangohour – 1.9.2 is activated on your site, per its System Status Report (SSR). Furthermore, on its plugin page, there is a notification that reads:

This plugin has been closed as of December 8, 2017 and is not available for download. Reason: Guideline Violation.

Just to clarify, how are the shipping rates calculated? With one of the core shipping methods, or otherwise?

WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping Plus: by mangohour – 1.9.2 is not used – it is shown as present but inactive in the plugins section. So it’s odd that it shows active in the SSR

The site just uses the normal shipping features in Woocommerce->Settings->Shipping, with UK, EU and ROW entries.

This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.
 
The best way to determine this is to:

• Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
• Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

Otherwise, if you are not able to constantly reproduce the issue it will be very hard to pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks – unfortunately the last para sums it up. It is not reproduceable. Hence the hope that someone could point me at the code that produces the two quantities (the order itself, and the shipping list), so I could attempt to see why the two variables are different…

This issue will undoubtedly be challenging to fix since it is not reproducible. However, I’m curious to know if there are any error logs for the specific date of when that order you shared was made under WooCommerce → Status Logs.

So, would you be so kind as to double-check if there are any? In case you find something, please share it with us here to see if we can spot a clue.

No. There are no errors showing up anywhere near the order times…

Since you are not able to constantly reproduce the issue, and no errors showing up anywhere near the order times, it will be very hard to pinpoint the exact cause I’m afraid.

I know it’s problematic – hence my hope that someone can direct me at the files/code where the two values are produced, so I can investigage why two different values are displayed.

PS. Is there a way of enabling a logging of the processes woocommerce goes through when placing the order, so I might track down the point where things change?

I’d recommend checking out our official documentation on managing orders, linked here, if you did not have a chance to go through it already.

It includes a visual diagram, also, to illustrate order statuses.
