Hi @benoitadam – that does sound like a good suggestion of a potential improvement. I’d recommend you make it as a suggestion on Github (which is used for the development of the plugin).
Hi @benoitadam. I am not able to reproduce what you describe.
I started writing a post using the Classic Editor plugin but I did get a prompt asking if I wanted to save when I tried to navigate away from the editor:
That being said, if you can reproduce this consistently, please do go ahead and open an issue with detailed steps here (thank you!).
I can get a solution without waiting for a possible improvement, I’m in… !
I have not tested this so I am not sure it is going to work but you could try to install this plugin called Change Autosave Time and tweak the settings. This might “force” the Classic Editor to autosave your posts.
You can read more about how the autosave feature works here.
Good luck!

Unfortunatly, doing the same step as you doesn’t display this message.
Do you have JetPack plugin installed ? Because I don’t use it on this website.
EDIT : with you plugin I seems to work, have an autosave, but I’m not notified it exist a more recent version, I need to check my revision first. But that will do I think.

No, I was using a clean installation without any plugins beside “Classic Ediror” and the default theme (Twenty Twenty-Three).

This might be related to your site’s Heartbeat settings which in turn, may be related to your hosting’s settings. Could you try installing this plugin just to see if it makes a difference?
