• Hi,

I recently re-installed WordPress 3.0.1. The installation went smoothly. Then I tried to add a new plugin. So Clicked on “Add New” and typed-in the search term. However, instead of returning me search results. I got the following error message:

    An unknown error has occured.

When I switched on the debug mode, I got the following error message:

Notice: unserialize() [function.unserialize]: Error at offset 0 of 5973 bytes in /home/xxxx/public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php on line 48

I am getting similar errors when I click on Featured, Popular, Newest, Recently Updated.

Further more, I am getting same errors when I am trying to install themes.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

    thanks

Ok! I know what is happening, however I don’t know how to fix it. Here is the issue.

I changed my machines hostname. Above features described do not work with the new hostname. If I change the hostname back to the old one, all the above features suddenly start to work.

I have tried rebooting, re-installing afresh but nothing works. Only thing works is changing to the old hostname.

The thing is that the old hostname wasn’t working with my SMTP Server (postfix), so I had to change it.
