I’ve just done a GTMetrix speed test and my site is very slow. https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.housesittingtravellers.com/nV7bV1jC/

I’m working on the staging site but the production site is a problem too. I looked at the waterfall report and a big problem is Pay Pal – I think connecting to the Pay Pal server. I am using Woo Commerce.

I am testing my home page. I don’t have Pay Pal on my home page, just in the cart and checkout pages. So, as far as I know, Pay Pal shouldn’t even be coming up in this speed test. I looked at some other similar forum queries and it seems that activating the mini cart will cause Pay Pal to load on every page. But I haven’t activated the mini cart I don’t think. It’s supposed to be deactivated by default. I’m not even quite sure what the mini cart is.

So – I’m hoping someone can help resolve this issue for me.

    Thanks.

    Hi @housesittingtravellers ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you are experiencing a slow site, and believe PayPal may be the issue?

To check, can you temporarily deactivate the PayPal plugin you are currently using and see if your site loads better? Also, please can you clarify which plugin you are using to enable PayPal as a payment gateway on your site?

Additionally, I’d suggest having a look at?Troubleshooting a Slow Site?and see if any suggestions provided in there make any difference.

?I’m not even quite sure what the mini cart is

The mini cart, it is a small widget that displays a brief summary of the items customers have added to their cart.

    Cheers!
