Woocommerce Unable to change Checkout/Cart

I understand that you are unable to change the Cart or Checkout pages, is this correct?

This is not something I am able to reproduce on my test site, as the Cart and Checkout page can be changed without any issues:

As per your screenshot, I am able to see that there is a slight visual difference compared to the default WooCommerce → Advanced page, where on your end, it provides a link to edit the Checkout and Cart template:

It seems you have already tried a few troubleshooting step, however have you managed to temporarily switch your theme to a default theme, such as Storefront, while all plugins, except WooCommerce, are deactivated to see if this resolves the issue?

If so, and the issue is still present, please can you share the following:

• System Status Report: navigate to WooCommerce → Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.
• Fatal Error log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce → Status → Logs.

One you have this, please share the results with us here.

I had same problem. Cannot change cart or checkout page, edits revert to the new cart and checkout “template parts” that I don’t wish to use. On updating to WC 8.0.1 and WP 6.3 somewhere along the way, my cart and checkout pages with shortcodes [woocommerce_cart] and [woocommerce_checkout] were replaced with new-style block template parts, leaving site non-functional. Payment gateways don’t work, custom code doesn’t apply, etc. etc. Nightmare. Created new cart and checkout pages with the old shortcodes, but this issue didn’t even let me switch over to them.

Only solution (it worked) is rollback to WC 7.9.

Not very happy! Please fix!

Site also has a block theme – twentytwentytwo. This is when issue arises. Other sites I maintain are updated to 8.0.1 with no issue re cart/checkout pages, and settings page layout is unchanged from previous. So looks like if use you a block theme, you have to also use the cart/checkout part templates (as of WC 8.0) – but these don’t support my payment gateways or anything else.

@beautyofcode, my setup looks precisely like your second screenshot. That is what (now) happens after installing everything from scratch. I guess you tested this with an existing installation, so you neither see the page like on the screenshot nor can reproduce the issue.

Moreover, I can neither remove nor restore the new Cart and Checkout pages from Trash. Every time I click Delete Permanently, it redirects to the page edit page. The same happens when I click Restore.

So, if it is not something we all miss here, this is the experience all newcomers have.

@dangoodman if you have the Cart and Checkout pages trashed, try to restore them via bulk actions. That redirect is a known bug going to be addressed.

After you restore the pages, edit the templates for Cart and Checkout, and you can use the shortcode block to re-add the shortcode versions.

We are very sorry for the trouble caused, and working hard on polishing the feature based on these reports.

@pauloarromba, when I do the following:
1. remove the Cart page via the bulk actions;
2. create the new cart page with the [woocommerce_cart] shortcode;
3. go back to the Pages list and click edit again;

I get the same block’ed version of the page https://imgur.com/gJ7zkge

The same is happening to the checkout page.

@dangoodman On that screen, edit the template, remove blocks and insert the shortcode block.

I was in the same situation as @maxicandi, so if it helps, here’s how I solved my problem:

The theme I was using had a checkout template included. By deleting this my-theme/templates/checkout.html file, my checkout page once again used the content I had chosen in /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page.

So I put the shortcode [woocommerce_checkout] there, as it takes into account all the “actions” I’d added, especially woocommerce_checkout_billing.
