    Hey there!
I’ve just run a thumbnail regeneration for a website, and I noticed that the BuddyPress/BuddyBoss media files thumbnails (/wp-content/uploads/bb_media were not regenerated.

I also marked the “Delete thumbnail files for old unregistered sizes …” and none were deleted.

Is anyone aware of a way to include those thumbnails in the process?

    Cheers!

    Hi there, @sefo262,

I guess you have tried again to go to Tools > Force Regenerate Thumbnails in the WordPress admin dashboard with no success.

Have you noticed an error once this happened (or not happened, to be precise)? If there’s anything in terms of the information we can share with our developers to investigate that, that’d be great ??

@erania-pinnera Just noticed your answer :S
Yes, I did, and didn’t get any error.

I suspect that, because it is not a default folder, the plugin doesn’t have support for those BuddyBoss thumbnails to be regenerated?

The other thumbs get regenerated successfully.

    Any suggestions are welcomed

    Hey @sefo262,

We suspect the images might not be in the media library which might be why they are not regenerated.?
To check that, could you run?wp media regenerate <attachment-id>? If they don’t have an ID then that’s likely why it won’t work.

Let me know what you find out!

    Hey Stef,
    That’s actually the case.
Since those BP/BB images are, in most cases, profile pictures or user uploads, they are not present in the media library.
However, they have multiple thumbnail sizes created, so I’d like to regenerate those, too, especially to remove outdated sizes.

Is there any way to add images that are not in the media library to the regeneration process of the plugin?
For example, with an action/filter to include a folder?

I’m happy to explore the code to try to find a solution myself, but maybe you can save me some hours by pointing me to a method to add other folders to the regeneration process ??

BuddyBoss images are a big part of our disk space usage, and it would be really useful if RT and BB played well together.
I’m sure if we can get to a snippet or something that can include those images into the process, other people might also find it helpful.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi @sefo262,

    Thank you for confirming.

Unfortunately, the regeneration of thumbnail images outside the default folder is outside the scope of the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin–our plugin just regenerates thumbnails for images in the media library.

As an alternative, you may check out Jetpack’s Site Accelerator module: https://jetpack.com/support/site-accelerator/

Jetpack’s Site Accelerator module is the go-to recommendation from the plugin’s author, as noted at the bottom of this page. It makes the images on your site be served from WordPress.com’s global content delivery network (CDN) which should speed up the loading of images. Importantly though it can create thumbnails on the fly which means you’ll never need to use this plugin.

    I hope that helps,
