• HI everyone,

I am trying to upload new media files and wordpress won’t let me, giving me the “Is its Parent Directory Writable by the Server” error.
I have already reset the permissions of the uploads folder and its subfolders to 755 and modifed my WordPress config file.

The last option I to fix this doesn’t seem available for me and I am unsure why.
I want to make sure the media settings and the field “store uploads in this folder” is set to wp-content/uploads.

Unfortunetly it doesn’t even show this field in my settings. Does anyone know why or have any other idea how to fix this problem??
    Please help, I am devistated!

There’s no media setting for uploads, only whether they should be organized by date or not. However, you can alter where uploads go by defining 'UPLOADS' as the desired path relative to the main WP installation folder.

For 755 to be writable to WP, the user WP runs as (often but not always www-data) needs to be the directory’s owner. Please verify this is so. If not, you may need 775 permissions. Or chown the directories.
