My website has 9 products that have attributes and when i try to activated the option to permit create variations, it shows that the check button is disabled.

I’ve found a few threads on www.remarpro.com and noticed you guys say please deactivate plugins and theme(s) of which I have already and tried to run the same process and this still is not working.

I also have tried to update limit time from PHP and max input vars and it doesn’t work.

I’ve also checked logs and the website is not running any heavy resources and therefore not running any process. and therefore not failing or crashing and i can’t determine a fix.

Please can you assist with this?

  • I’m having the same issue. It might be related to this recently reported bug: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/39338 and a few other tickets I’ve seen on these WordPress forums.

I hope they release an update soon; The 7.9.0 version update has made all my variable subscription products unpurchasable. The Attributes still appear, but the ‘Used for Variations’ box has become unticked, and the Variations tab now shows the message: “Add some attributes in the Attributes tab to generate variations. Make sure to check the Used for variations box. Learn more” (even though there is two Attributes.)

I used it alongside Woo Subscriptions and Woo Memberships.

Yeah, and before i update to version 7.9.0, all my variables products were working normally. And in the status from WooCommerce in Admin section, it show’s this:

    Hello @lincoroffimas,

    Thank you for reaching out!

Even though I still can’t reproduce the issue even with products published before the update, other team members were able to mimic the same behaviour.

We don’t have an exact timeline for when the team will investigate or resolve the issue, as bug reports are prioritized based on a few criteria. If you’d like to stay updated, you can subscribe to the report from the sidebar.

I suggest you revert back to version 7.8.2 (direct download link) for now, till this is fixed in one of the following updates.

Let us know if you have any other questions. :?)

This is the exact issue I’ve got with a client site. Look forward to a fix asap!

    Hi @lincoroffimas, @soprano, @10bradders10,

Thank you for your patience, and I completely understand the frustration this issue with product variations could be causing you.

After investigating your problem, I’ve found that this is a known bug that was disabling the “Used for variations” checkbox on Variable products. We previously received reports about this issue, and we’ve addressed it in the latest WooCommerce update.

Here’s the exciting part: We’ve fixed this issue in WooCommerce version 8.0.0. Therefore, I suggest you update your WooCommerce plugin to the latest version, which is 8.0.1, to solve this problem.

Here are the steps to do that:

    1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
    2. Navigate to ‘Plugins‘.
    3. Locate ‘WooCommerce‘ in your list of installed plugins.
    4. Click on ‘Update Now‘ next to ‘WooCommerce‘.

Once updated, give it another shot and see if you can now tick the ‘Use in Variations’ checkbox. If the problem continues, don’t hesitate to reach out so we can assist you further in troubleshooting.

?? A quick reminder: Before you make any changes, we strongly recommend that you create a backup of your full site and database. This is a crucial step to ensure that in case anything goes wrong, you can easily restore your site to its previous, functioning state.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you sort out this issue.

    Thanks @bisratlearn!

Upgrading to 8.0.1 was when this was first identified. Rolling back earlier to 7.8.2, did the trick.

Now I’ve just upgraded the staging site again to 8.0.1, and the issue now appears to have been rectified.

Can you clarify if Products > Attributes, is where all the Product Data > Attributes for Variations should live?

    Hi @10bradders10

Are you using WordPress 6.3 or an older version? If so, how about giving an upgrade a shot? You could update your WordPress core, WooCommerce, theme, and all other plugins to their latest versions. This might solve your problem!

If the issue still continues, could you share a copy of your site’s System Status Report with us? You’ll find it at the top of the page under WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support (after you scroll down a bit).

Since each site setup differs, and to align with forum best practices, please can you start your own topic so that we can address your issue(s) separately?

    Thanks for your understanding.
