On a website we were using NGG on we recently noticed that either most of the photos were missing. I am unclear as to how it happened, but I started reload some of them. However, if I looked in the admin for a gallery such as “2014 Valentine’s Day Kissing Booth”On a website we were using NGG on we recently noticed that either most of the photos were missing. I am unclear as to how it happened, but I started reload some of them. However, if I looked in the admin for a gallery such as “2014 Valentine’s Day Kissing Booth” the photos did show. But on the actual website it would say no images were found. So I deleted the 15 photos from the admin, and then reloaded them. And I am having the same issue. Any ideas to a fix?

    Hi,

I am glad to help. This is weird indeed. In cases like this I would reach out to the hosting company first and let them know. Check if you ran out of space or out of memory, if there was any attack or failure on the server and have them check when they did the latest backup of your site, see if they have a version with all your images in place, if you start removing galleries and recreating them then the clues to what happened might be just gone.

Please let us know what you are using as the gallery directory, normally it is wp-content/gallery. Check in Other Options > Image Options and “where would you like your galleries stored”

Also please try with your hosting and keep me posted.

    Thanks

Thank you for the fast reply. I will certainly check with the hosting company. I don’t think it has to do with a space issue because I cloned the site to a development server to test it, and I am having the same issues on the development server which has alot of space.

I did as a test just delete 1 gallery that was mentioned above, and then recreated it with the same name and photos. And the photos now show up.

Everything is being stored in wp-content/gallery

I checked a backup from 6 months ago and the photos are not in the wp-content/gallery, so I am not fully sure what happened. If I upload them directly to the folder via FTP will they show back up?

    Hi @verdipro,

Yes, the images should be present if you access the corresponding gallery folder. You may want to double check your file server to see, perhaps you were storing the galleries at a different path.

While it isn’t possible for us to directly help you restore the missing images files, we can have a direct look at the issue with the missing images after creating a new gallery. Feel free to contact us directly at https://www.imagely.com/report-bug/ mentioning this forum thread.
