Phantastic idea. Very ease to use. Does it send copy to user?

  • I really love the idea and the ease of use of this plugin. Just install, insert the block, choose “Contact Form” and you’re done.

    I tried to set up the email address until I realized that I don’t have to as on submit the form content is automatically sent to the admin email.

    Question:
    Form Block does not send a copy to the email address entered into the contact form email field, does it?

    That to me is a sort of minimal requirement for any form plugin and would be the only thing missing to recommend the free version to my readers ??

    Hi there,

    you’re right, that is not part of the plugin. If anyone enters an email address there, you cannot be sure that this is actually the user owning this email address. This could be easily abused so that your server in the end sends many emails to users not wanting to receive any email from you.

    I cannot see any proper validation of this. And since email reputation is very important to make sure your emails actually arrive in the user’s inbox, I’m not planning to implement that.

    Another thing is: why should a user get a copy of the data he/she entered a few seconds ago? There is a message whether the form submission was successful, which can be trust.

    Wow. That’s what I would call a ?fast response? ??

    I get the point about possible misuse, but as a user filling in a contact form I always like to receive a copy of what I wrote in the textarea.

    That way the conversation becomes part my inbox, and amongst other things I can set a reminder.

    However, as a WordPress user I could of course offer both on my contact page:

    • an email link for visitor’s wanting to use an email client
    • a contact form for other visitors

    I’ll think about it ??
