[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Newbie- how to get going?

WP.org says install and activate Nextgen, then paste a bit of code and get going.
I am a stark newbie to WP, i.e.; 1st days.
I have Next gen on my computer, how do I get it into my WP page and start using it?
