Occasionally the blog posts on https://supportcenteronline.org/support-center-job-board/ will occasionally disappear and the only way to get them to appear again is to click update for the permalink settings. I do not believe the issue is cache related. Have there been any other reports about this? I assume it could also be theme related, however, it has only been a recent occurrence in 2023, and I do not recall it happening previously.

    Hi @verdipro

We get occasional reports of this and most often it ends up being a plugin or theme issue. As a first step, I would recommend testing with a default theme (such as Storefront) and only WP Job Manager installed.

It’s possible that there might be a conflict with one of your current plugins or your theme.

Try disabling all of your plugins except WP Job Manager (and add-ons). Then try testing again to see if the issue persists. If that resolves your issue, you can find what was causing it by enabling each plugin one by one while continuing to test.

If that doesn’t help, you can also try switching to the Storefront theme via Appearance > Themes, and test again. If the issue is resolved then you know it’s a problem with the theme, and you’ll need to contact the theme author for further assistance.

Let us know how it goes.

ok thank you. I will try all of the above and see what happens.

One quick question is if its not currently happening, is there a way to test it? Typically when we notice it is happening, I update the permalinks and delete the cache and the job posts start showing again.

However, if all is working properly at this moment, will doing any of the above help spot the issue?

    Hi @verdipro

With intermittent issues like this, it can be very difficult to track down the cause. If things are working normally at present, I am not sure the plugin/theme disabling with identify the issue.

You might consider creating a staging site that duplicates your site and then try disabling the plugins and using a default theme and then checking it periodically to see if you can reproduce the issue.

Sorry I don’t have a better answer here.

Let us know if you are able to find anything else through additional testing.

    Hello @verdipro

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no activity, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!

Thank you for checking in. Over the past week everything has seemed to be running fine. It is very intermittent when it happens, so I think you can probably close this ticket down for now. If it happens again, I may need to create a staging site as your team suggested.

Sure. Keep us posted when the issue happens again!

I wanted to follow up about this as the job board has stopped a few times since the last report. I did clone the site to a development area for further testing. When the job postings stopped loading on the live site today, I checked the development site, but the job postings were showing fine there.

Both the live site and the development site are on the same server, just different URLs. And both are running the exact same theme, WP version, plugins, etc. I am trying to get the development site to replicate the same issue, and then from there I can work on some of the testing.

    Hi @verdipro,

I am sorry to hear you’re having such a hard time replicating the issue ??

If that helps, we’re very happy to investigate this once you manage to reproduce it. As my colleague @lastsplash mentioned, the intermittent nature of these issues make them a nightmare to debug.

It’d be possible that there’s still something very small that’s different in your staging site vs your production site, which is generating the problem in your production site. If you manage to pinpoint it, that’d be huge progress.

Keep us posted, and good luck with your investigation ??

I just realized one other thing that I am not sure if it is the issue. When I try to update the plugin it says: An error occurred while updating WP Job Manager – Simple Paid Listings: Update package not available.

Is there a way to get the plugin to update? Currently they are running 1.4.3, but it looks like 2.0.0 is available.

    Hey @verdipro,

If you’re paid user, you’re entitled to email support – plus we can’t discuss paid product related issue on this public forum ??

Can you please reach out to us via this contact form (scroll a little down in the page), and mention this forum thread? Thanks a lot!
