“Load More” not loading all my images

The gallery does not load all the images. It shows the “load more” button which works up until a certain extent but then it disappears as if it has loaded everything in my gallery even though it has not.
A workaround is to increase the “Total Item to Show” setting but because the page then has to load so many images at once it loads very slowly, causing all the images to compress like an accordion until loading is finished.
