    Hi,

Our website server crashed today and Cloudways Hosting determined that it was caused by Updraft Plus pushing 40GB of files to their server, even though the plugin is set to only back up to Dropbox.

We checked the plugin settings and it shows that all backups go to Dropbox, but Cloudways confirmed that the plugin is backing up to their server, even though no such settings exist.

How do we stop the plugin from doing this? We’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and Cloudways says that it continues to do this.

    Hi,

There is an option in UpdraftPlus to delete the backup in your local server after the backups are successfully sent to your remote storage. To do this, go to UpdraftPlus ‘Settings’ tab > ‘Show expert settings’ > select ‘Delete local backup’ and make sure to click the ‘Save Changes’ after.

    Kind Regards,
    Bryle

This box was already checked by default, so that doesn’t apply to us:

Check this to delete any superfluous backup files from your server after the backup run finishes (i.e. if you uncheck, then any files despatched remotely will also remain locally, and any files being kept locally will not be subject to the retention limits).

Can you send us the backup log from the backup/restore tab?

    Hi,

Apologies, do you have any other backup logs that you can post?
