• The new version of DCG had a few bugs upon release, which have been fixed, but my slideshow refuses to cooperate when it comes time to flip through default post images. There appears to be some kind of problem with reading jpegs that are in my assigned default images folder. Not sure what the issue is, but I’m waiting to hear back from the developer.

    Hi,

Check that your jpegs are named .jpg, not .jpeg. Also, if the filename extension isn’t the issue, make sure that you are not using jpegs in CMYK colour space (IE, for example, won’t render CYMK images).

Also, a link is always useful. ??

The slideshow’s worked fine for the past month or so, right up until I did the upgrade. I tried just about everything I could to fix it, but ultimately I went back to a previous version of the plugin which goes through all my slides in sequence. You can check my blog at thefilmcynics.com/blog but you won’t see the problems after doing my stopgap fix. If the jpgs I’m using are CMYK would they have ever worked?

Just to be clear about the symptom: my first two slides, picked special for their posts work fine, then they stop changing when it goes to a default slide. If I click through 3 times (there are 3 default slides in a row) I’ll come to my next specially picked out slide, but it still doesn’t change to the next slide even if the next one isn’t a default slide either. If I click all the way through the sequence to the beginning again, it’ll go from 1 to 2 and then get stuck again.

I’m willing to try whatever you come up with. I’m liking some of the new options you’ve added.

    Cheers

    I agree, they wouldn’t.

The three default images – are they the same image, or three different ones?

What gallery method are you using?

(PS: Glad you like some of the new stuff).

They’re each different pics. I use the multi-option method and make use of all 9 slots with a default image for each category I use. Maybe my directory is buried to far in for the new version? Do I need to make a thumbnail version for each of those default images now?

I noticed that the new version doesn’t shut down my entire blog when I deactivate it anymore. Nice touch, I’m sure you’ve got a lot more code now.

Your images seem fine. No, you don’t need to make a thumbnail. No, the directory depth shouldn’t make a difference.

The only way for me to troubleshoot this is to see the problem in action. I’m out and about at the moment, so don’t have access to my dev server. Send me an email to ade at studiograsshopper dot ch and we can coordinate a time for you putting v3.3 live and me looking at the problem. Won’t be for 6 hours or so from now. Alternatively, you can send me a WP admin login and password (via the email address mentioned) and I’ll take a look when I get home later today.

    Oops, I forgot…

Is WP installed in your root/blog folder, or is it installed somewhere else? In other words, what are your WordPress and Site URLs as shown in Dashboard>Settings>General?

    Hey Ade,

You should have all the info you need in your email. As for the URLs you were asking about, they are both https://www.thefilmcynics.com/blog – but you might already know that by now.

    Hi Steve,

Yes, thanks, got the details. I’m checking it out now. ??

Still dealing with the same problems, even with the latest upgrade. I’ve been forced to take down DCG until I can find an old version of the plugin and recover my old settings so I can get it working again.

The problems are mostly the same, the slideshow works up until it gets to a slide from my default pictures folder, at which point the slideshow stops. I can manually flip through, but it skips over the default pictures and won’t stop flipping through photos on its own until it gets back to the start of the loop again.

Also with this particular upgrade, I can’t seem to click to the post associated with the slide anymore. Not sure what that’s about.
