• Dear Anton,

I installed your CF-Images plugin on Sunday, and was pleased with the performance offered for Mobile and Desktop devices. I did not find a detailed Installation Guide for the plugin, so I used the majority of the default settings enabled are shown here:
    1. Auto offload new images – YES

    2. Serve from custom domain – NO

    3. Keep media library structure – YES

    4. Auto resize images on front-end?Beta – NO

    5. Disable WordPress image sizes?Experimental – NO

    6. Disable async processing – NO

Everything seems to work if you check my webpages using https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis/. However, all of the images are being loaded as JPG, and not in WEBP or AVIF formats, which will further accelerate page loads.

What do I need to do to have WEBP and AVIF images loaded in place of the JPG images found in my Media Library? Can I enable WEBP and AVIF images in the CF-Images Plugin, or is this accomplished by enabling the Cloudflare -> Speed -> Optimization -> Image Resizing option in the Cloudflare Dashboard?

    Thanks,

    Scott

    Hi @dr-scott-best,

I checked your website, and images that are served from Cloudflare are serving as AVIF for me. The ones that are still on your website (some images from CSS styles) are served locally. But there is no way to replicate those for now.

    Best regards,
    Anton

    Dear Anton,

If you use the following online utility for identifying caching resources on a website, https://www.giftofspeed.com/cache-checker/, you will see that only JPG images are shown. What resource did you use to see AVIF images on my website?

    Thanks,

    Scott

@dr-scott-best, the jpeg files are served from your site and are injected by Divi. The plugin is not yet able to intercept those CSS inline styles (hasn’t been requested up until now). It will only process images inside the content. And those images are served via proper avif/webp formats, as can be seen from the headers of images served from the imagedelivery.net domain.

    Best regards,
    Anton

    Dear Anton,

It may be beneficial to many WordPress Themes to intercept CSS inline styles for images so they are delivered by the Cloudflare Images server. Adding features like this may require that you start charging an annual fee for a Pro version of your plugin. Kindly let me know if you decide to add this feature.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I’ll definitely add this to the to-do list. Thank you for the feedback and idea.

    Best regards,
    Anton
