    Hi All,

I am receiving around 8- 12 emails per website everytime the scheduled link check runs. Is there anyway for me to troubleshoot why this occurs or is this expected behaviour?

    Cheers,
    Matt

    Hi @marblematt

    I hope you’re well today!

It is not supposed to be happening and there should be only one e-mail per scan per recipient (as you can add multiple recipients).

We are aware that in some case there are unexpectedly “multiplied” notifications and there are two “sets” of fixes coming up that should, hopefully, address it – the second one in 2.1 release and the first one either in 2.1 or one of the minor versions earlier (if there’ll be such a minor release). I don’t have ETA though.

For now, I’d like to ask you additionally:

    1. Are you using plugin on one site only or on multiple sites and if it’s multiple sites – is it happening on all of them or just one?

    2. Is by any change that site a Multisite install or a regular single setup?

    3. Could you please install (temporarily) two plugins (both free) to check some things?

    a) WP Crontrol – once enabled, go to “Tools -> Cron Events” page and check if the “blc_schedule_scan” has a Next Run date currently matching the scan schedule (as set in plugin)

    b) Post SMTP Mailer – only activate the plugin but do not configure anything in it (this way it will not change how emails work); wait until the e-mails are sent and check “Post SMTP -> Email Log” page to see if that scan e-mail is listed there multiple times also or only once

Let us know about that test results, please.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,

    1. Thanks for your response. Yes we are running this on multiple sites with different hosting servers and it is happening on both sites.
    2. They are both regular setups, no multisites.
    3. The blc_schedule_scan is set to run on the date specified (the end of the week) and we already have a mail log plugin installed and I can see the email listed in the log multiple times.

Let me know if there is anything else I can look into.

    Cheers,
    Matt

    Hi @marblematt

    Thank you for response!

So there is nothing “specific” here (which I hoped for). I just checked and the potential fix that I mentioned previously is currently in the QA tests queue so if it passes tests – it should be included in 2.1 release.

For now, I’m afraid I can only recommend disabling scheduled scans and running scan every once in a while manually (at the risk of still getting multiple notifications but, at least, “expected” and in less amount) until the 2.1 version is published.

If 2.1 doesn’t fix it for good for you, please update us and we’ll bring out developers on board again on this.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for looking into it. We are on leave for 3 weeks now so will pause the checker until we return. Hopefully this new version is out by the time we return. ??

    Cheers,
    Matt

Since we haven’t heard from you for a while. I’ll mark this thread as resolved for now. Please feel free to re-open the thread if you need further assistance.
