[Plugin: The Events Calendar] How to Make a Calendar Page
-
I would really like to use this plugin because it seems to have everything I’m looking for in a calendar plug-in.
My big problem is that after much searching through this forum, I discovered that when the plugin was activated, it automatically created a category called “Events”, and that was where the calendar was displayed. This was not clear in the instructions.
I already had a category called “events” that I had all of my events posted in, and which was also feeding one of the feature boxes on the homepage as well as another event plugin in the sidebar. By adding this plugin, it eliminated my “events” as a feature on the homepage and the separate events category was now the calendar only.
What I’d like to do is keep my old events category “as is” and simply create a new page called “Calendar” which is where this events calendar would appear.
I found 2 other posts on this forum that created both a new template called “Calendar” and one using a calendar re-direct. I followed the directions carefully, but still couldn’t get either option to work.
So does anyone know how to:
1. Eliminate the automatic category this plugin creates called “Events” (since I already have a category by that name).
2. Add a separate page called “Calendar” that displays the calendar. I’ve seen several requests for a hook to do this, so I’m adding my request as well!If you’d like to view the site I’m wanting to add this to, please go to Pasadena Church.
If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated!
Stacey
PS – I understand that this plugin also creates a widget for the sidebar, right? If so, I’ll be happy to replace my existing sidebar widget with this one… if I can get the calendar page to work!
thanks!
