disabled plugin creates thousands of 404 pages

    We disabled the autoptimize plugin, but it keeps giving 404 errors and thousands of them. what to do to stop creating thousands of 404?

    this happens when a page cache holds HTML-files in cache that still has references to autoptimized files in them, clearing all page cache(s) you (or your host of 3rd parties such as cloudflare) might have will fix that problem.
