    Hi everyone ??

I’m new to WordPress and PHP, but I’ve been around the block as far as HTML and CSS. I am trying to add a page/menu item to my client’s theme: Betround. I can see in the Appearance section of the template where the Menu editor is, and I have added a couple of pages, but they don’t show up in my hosted page. I am presuming that I need to copy the code that was updated in my template over to my directory on my hosting service, but once I’ve made the changes to the template – I don’t know where they are made in the code. Can someone please walk me through this? Any help/info would be VERY appreciated!

    TIA,

    Coleen

  • You have to add your pages through the WP Pages/Add New interface.

Yes esmi I know that – and I have done so, but they are NOT showing up! That’s the whole problem. I have added two pages using the wordpress/wp-admin/nav-menus.php page – but the pages do not show up in my hosted web page. Where do I find the code that has been changed so that I can copy it up to my hosting service? Or, better yet, how do I add them manually, and to which .php page do I add them? Any serious help with examples would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Coleen

Does your theme support custom menus? If it does, is the custom menu selected to display on 1 or more of the menu locations on the site? The best you’re going to get in this situation is a link to the files/pages. They will not be incorporated into the site’s current theme or make use of any of its headers/nav menus or footers.

How exactly are you adding these links to the custom menu?

I figured it out – sorry. It’s a simple matter of actually publishing the pages! I made all my changes, but didn’t make them public (I presumed the code would be in my template and I could copy and past it into my Visual Studio editor and then publish it all at once after I had made all the changes to my pages.)

The problem is that I am new to templates – I NEVER use them! So my apologies – it works the moment I publish it (d’oh!) Thanks! Still I am not sure I like templates though – I don’t know where to go to look for code – it gets put in weird places – not where I expect to find it!

    Thanks again.
