Fabulous plugin – exactly what I’ve been looking for… and I already broke it.

I tried to rename the id field so that on the page that shows the Participant List it would say More… at the top of the id column instead of id.

Instead I got a whole screen full of error code from the hosting company on my home page, where the list should be.

I deleted and replaced the home page, but it won’t accept the shortcode now.

Is this something I can fix by reinstalling the Participant Database? And if I do can I do it without losing the changes I made – all of the successful ones? I already downloaded the participant database.

This plugin is so easy to use that it won’t even take long if I have to start over again. I love it!

    Thanks.

    Ed

I am working on a development site, so I can just start over and copy my setting to a new site, problem solved.

Just one question left: Can I change the name of the public ID field to something like “More” or “Info” to let people know they can click it?

No hurry on this, take your time. I just want to replace the current site within the next month or so.

    Thanks.

Fields that are in the “Record Info” group should be left alone, they are used internally by the plugin to manage the data.

You should create a new field for your purpose, you can name it anything you want.

Good news: I figured it all out, so no need to bother you again. This is the best plugin ever! It is a much better “event listing” plugin than anything else out there.

I feel like it’s my birthday and new presents keep coming in: I figured out how to change the titles… and remove them completely! How to change the size of the pictures. How to use the Groups – that is brilliant. Once I discovered I could move the groups around… and move the fields from one group to another… I rearranged them so that we have the Seminar Instructor’s photo first, then info about the seminar, then info about the instructor. The last thing I needed, I found the instructions a few minutes ago: How to only display Approved Instructors on the public list.

And I did all of this without knowing how to write code. I love it.

Now I’ll copy what I just wrote and use it when I review the plugin. Thanks for making this available. I will definitely send you a donation.

I didn’t know that these fields were absolutely necessary and removed some of them. Now, it throws an error if I try to update a data set. I tried to recreate the deleted fields. Unfortunately, that’s not possible. This is a bit strange: I can delete fields that are absolutely needed, but I can’t create them. Do I have to do it directly in the database? Or can I somehow reset the configuration to make it work again?

    Thank you!

It’s hard to help you because I don’t understand what you did. You cannot normally delete field that are in the Record Info group…so what did you do to “remove them”?

Oh…I’m sorry, Mike, I didn’t realize you weren’t the original poster. You should post your new question under a new title, much easier to follow what’s going on that way. It will be very helpful to describe what you did and what exactly is happening.

Thank you very much. Will do it immediately.

    Thanks, Mike
