If there is no error displayed, then most likely the image is replaced, but the old one is still cached. There could be several layers of cache depending on your setup and you should ensure you clear them, in the following order:
- CDN cache (eg. Cloudflare, StackPath). Please do this through your CDN’s dashboard, not through your cache plugin or hosting dashboard.
- Cache plugins (eg. Autoptimize, WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, SG Optimizer, WP Fastest Cache etc.)
- Server cache (eg. SiteGround, Bluehost)
- Browser cache (eg. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari)
To better understand the cache, its use, and how you can clear it, please read our edifying article ??
The other alternative is to use the second option of the plugin “Replace the file, use the new file name, and update all links”, as that usually brings another file name and caching should not be an issue anymore.
Please let us know how it goes!
