Contact Form has stopped sending emails (since last update?).
But the WP Mail SMTP test emails are sent correctly!

We have multiple applications using the same mailer with identical settings working correctly.
We tried to use the settings of other mailers (Office365/Gmail) and the behavior remains: the emails sent from the form do not reach the recipients, but the test emails are sent correctly.

We have already raised this issue with Contact Form Support.
    They concluded the following:
“… I looked at the notification settings, and they look correct. In this specific case looking at the Email Notification settings, and the debug log details that you shared, there seems to be some issue with the mailer configuration that’s causing the issue … I’d also suggest you to please post this query in the WP Mail SMTP forum here and they should be able to give you some additional insights.”

    Hi @webpart

    Thanks for reaching out.

Just to confirm, when you sent out the test email, you didn’t receive any error messages at all? If not, then we would recommend trying a different mailer to see if this is a mailer specific issue.

If you are using a domain-based email address, we would recommend trying to use the Sendinblue mailer.

Yes. When sending a test email, no error messages are received and the email reaches its destination without any problems.
But also when someone visits the page and sends message through WPForm, they don’t get any error message. Only the notification email is not delivered to us.

As I said, we already tried using other mailers (Office365/Gmail) and the behavior remains: the messages sent from the form do not reach us, but the test emails are sent correctly.

    Hi @webpart

Thank you for keeping us posted and I apologize for the misunderstanding.

When you mentioned “other mailers”, I assumed you were referring to the “Other SMTP” mailer and not the actual Gmail and Office365 mailers.

Since you have access to the Office365 mailer (which is only available in the Pro version) are you an active WP Mail SMTP Pro license holder? If yes you can reach out to our support team via https://wpmailsmtp.com/account/support/ so that we can look into this issue further.

If you are not currently a license holder and are not using the latest version of WP Mail SMTP or WP Mail SMTP Pro, we would recommend updating to the latest version and then attempt to confirm if there is a conflict by disabling all of your plugins except for WPForms and WP Mail SMTP to see if it makes a difference.

By the way, have you already tried creating a new contact form in WPForms with the default notification settings? Lastly, do you have any form of Email Logging enabled? Whether in WP Mail SMTP or the WP Mail Logging plugin.

This can confirm if the emails are failing to send or if they are failing to deliver.

We are not a WP Mail SMTP Pro license holder.
We parameterize our office365 data in the “Other SMTP Mailer” as we do with other applications.
Anyway, the test emails are always received by the receiver and the requests created by the form never arrive.

We have the latest version of both WPForms and WP Mail SMTP installed.

We disable all plugins except WPForms and WP Mail SMTP. The situation remains: the test emails are always received by the receiver and the requests created by the form never arrive.

We installed the WP Mail Logging plugin. Requests created on the Form are recorded in the Email Logs without any errors.

We also created a new contact form in WPForms with the default notification settings.
Requests created in this new form are also recorded in the Email Logs without any errors and are not received by the recipient.

The emails created by requests in a form created in WPForms seem to be sent but rejected by the mailer, since they are not delivered to the recipient.
Test emails reach the recipient, ie they are not rejected.

    So, some questions:

    • what are the differences between the test emails and the form emails that explain a possible rejection of the latter by the mailer?
    • lack of TLS 1.2 ?
    • DMARC rejection ?

    Hi @webpart

Thanks for getting back to us.

    • That certainly is strange. Typically this would indicate a notification setting issue, but since the default WPForms settings are also not working. I’d like to confirm that you have tried to send notifications to different email addresses in your WPForms. Also do you use the same From Email address that is set in your WP Mail SMTP settings?
    • As for the last two. To confirm if this issue is mailer specific, we would recommend setting up a different mailer. Specifically, we recommend using the?Sendinblue mailer?for testing purposes. Even if you don’t end up using them long-term, you can at least confirm that the previous SMTP server is experiencing an issue and you can share that information with them.

We contacted our email infrastructure provider who, after several tests, identified a HashDB blocking problem for messages sent by the Form.
The situation appears to have been resolved.

    Thank you for your help.
It wasn’t the Plugin’s problem after all.
