Can't post a link to a .docx

  • I can post a link to a document made in an older version of word but not a newer version of word. Do I need to upgrade my WordPress and will that fix the issue?

  • An upgrade won’t fix the issue. I don’t think many platforms or servers recognise/allow the newer .docx extension. You’d probably be better off sticking to .doc files.

    I know but the .docx extension is still nowhere near as widely used as .doc – which has been around for 10+ years. The latter can be imported into other applications such as Open/Star Office but as far as I know, only Word 2007 can use .docx. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that some server configs might block it.

    That might be the problem in your case. What version of WP are you currently using?
