Suddenly getting fatal error with UpdraftPlus v.2.11.21.1 (see full site specs below). Error occurs on the Existing Backups (tabs shows 6), which shows no backups only the fatal error. Nothing loads for the following tabs: Settings, Advanced Tools, Premium/Extensions.

Nothing seems of concern in the log file. PHP incompatability?

    Hi,

Please update the plugin to latest version 1.23.3.

    Thanks,

Your installed version of UpdraftPlus was released in December 2015 – it’s definitely time for an update! The version of PHP that you’re trying to run it on – PHP 8.1 – didn’t exist until November 2021, and has a lot of changes since versions that were current in December 2015 (at that time PHP 5.4 was the latest version).

So, there has been a bigger issue, then: the installed UpdraftPlus has NOT been alerting to updates (or auto updating). What would cause that, for future reference?

I update this site within a day or two of any update notices for all plugins — at least weekly. Sure, lazy: I rely upon the WP updates prompt, rather than going to the individual plugin pages.

Guess a delete and reinstall is in order. Fixed.

Versions of UpdraftPlus beginning with 2.X are paid versions, purchased from updraftplus.com. I believe that back in 2015, you only got notified of new versions if you kept your subscription up to date. (Though you would get emails when your subscription was ending – presumably at some point in 2016). Versions today will let you know that newer versions are available even if your subscription has expired – that feature was added at some point in the intervening years.
