The blog page linked includes an image gallery in the post for 13th December 2022.

The page looks fine when viewed on a desktop, but when viewed on a mobile device (mine has 720×1600 resolution) it considerably narrows the width of the page to around 2/3 of the width of the screen. This happens only when an image gallery is in one of the posts, if you select another month’s blogs from the list at the bottom then the full width is used as expected.

Interestingly, and oddly, if you view only the single post containing the image gallery then the full width of the screen is used So the image gallery alone doesn’t reduce the width, it’s some combination of image gallery and list of posts. With single images, rather than a gallery, there is no problem.

The images below show a reduced width with the gallery, and the normal width without the gallery.

    Environment:
WordPress 6.2 running Twenty Eleven Child theme.Server running PHP version: 7.4.33.
(The child theme has trivial mods.)

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

  • i think this table is the issue, maybe hide it on mobile. No idea what it means.

Alan, you’re right! Not sure why I was blaming the image gallery (my apologies to it), it is indeed the table plugin that was causing the issue. Rather, I had not configured the plugin’s tablet/phone settings so that it shows fewer columns on small screens, although I still think it’s a bit naughty of it to splurge over the screen like that.

Any, problem fixed and many thanks.
