    Hi,

I am using Google XML Sitemaps Version 4.1.8. Everything is done with setup with on my new site. It has been almost a month now but Google is not reading my sitemap. The report in the Search Console says “0 Discovered” URLs.

Around 25 URLs have got indexed but their referring page was the “Homepage.” They don’t show submitted XML sitemap as the referring page.

Secondly, when l click on this link: Notify Search Engines about your sitemap or your main sitemap and all sub-sitemaps now.

    I get this message:

“Search engines haven’t been notified yet. Write a post to let them know about your sitemap.”

What to do? I have published over 140 posts and pages in the last 2 months.

Before publishing the site, while it was in the development page, we had checked this option “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” in order to prevent demo pages from getting indexed. We also put password in the site through a plugin to prevent access.

But it has been over a month since we have removed the password protect feature as unchecked “Discourage search engines from indexing this site.”

However, the sitemap still shows 0 discovered URLs in the Google Search Console. I mean it is not discovering the URL, forget about indexing, which is the next step.

We thought to create a sitemap through Yoast SEO plugin and submit that as well. But it also got successfully submitted but no result on the discovery of the URLs.

What is the issue and why Google XML Sitemaps saying that “Search engines haven’t been notified yet. Write a post to let them know about your sitemap.”

Should we uninstall this plugin and use anyother plugin to create a new sitemap?

  • Hi @tamtam2023, Thanks for contacting us.

We are sending the ping to google crawlers to fetch the sitemap data. As from your query there is a possibility that the google crawlers are not fetching the data from the pages that were previously password protected assuming they are still not to be accessed. We suggest you to raise this query to google console and tell them to enable crawling for that pages as well.

Our plugin helps you to generate sitemaps and ping google to crawl the sitemap. Data crawled is completely controlled by google and informing them with this query will help you to get the solution.

    Hi @saurabhdhariwal01

Your plugin is not notifying the search engines. Everytime I click on “Notify Search Engines” – I get this response – “Search engines haven’t been notified yet. Write a post to let them know about your sitemap.”

In the some old threads, it was mentioned that we need to enter Google TID for the plugin to ping search engines, but I don’t see any field to input my TID.

Secondly, my developer told me that he cannot find the sitemap (XML file) in root directory or any of its folder of website?

Doesn’t Google XML Sitemaps upload the the sitemap in the “Public_html?”

Do we need to manually upload it? Is yes, then how will the plugin update the sitemap as we create more pages and posts?

    Hi @tamtam2023,

    1. As you need assistance with submitting sitemap in Goggle and Bing console, Please follow the steps mentioned in the article here:?https://callygood.medium.com/how-to-submit-a-sitemap-to-google-search-console-e0e55b4e50b8.
    2. Regarding the TID, Google TID is no more necessary in this plugin, it has been removed.
    3. For the Sitemap file, As our plugin will generate virtual sitemap file and that’s why physical file will not be there.
    4. We also observed the URL shared by you and we can see you have created “Sitemap” file. This “Sitemap” file will not update if you add more pages and posts. To use plugin functionality please remove manually created file.

    Hi @saurabhdhariwal01

The sitemap has already been submitted to Google Search Console. No issue on that side. It gets read but says zero discovered URLs. All of my indexed URLs are showing – “No referring sitemap” in the GSC.

I need your assistance regarding how this plugin is behaving.

The sitemap file has been created by the plugin after activating it. I have not created it manually. It is updating the posts and pages whenever we add them.

Issue: Everytime I click on “Notify Search Engines” – I get this response – “Search engines haven’t been notified yet. Write a post to let them know about your sitemap.”

The above message does not make sense.

This is the recent try today just before updating this post.

Please let me know the troubleshooting steps? I also tried to uninstall and re-install this plugin.

Note: I am using this plugin in my other site (an old site). There it always says – Search engines have been successfully notified.

    Hi @tamtam2023,

As you mentioned above our plugin is helping you to create and update the sitemap.

    Hi @saurabhdhariwal01

There is no search engine support team that I know about. The issue is with the plugin.

Could you please tell how does the plugin know that search engines have been notified or not?

    @tamtam2023,

Do you have an SEO expert to help you? Would you also keep us in the loop as well?”

Also, It looks like your website also needs improvement in caching and hosting, as it will impact the crawling. I hope that helps

    Hi @saurabhdhariwal01

We are using WP-Optimize for caching and Hostinger for hosting. Right now there is no traffic since it is a very new site, so we do not see any need to change the hosting right now.

We can disable the WP-Optimize plugin but I do not think it is interfering with your sitemap plugin.

This can only be resolved with your help. The SEO experts are suggesting to not use your plugin.

Your plugin keeps on informing that “Search engines haven’t been notified yet.”

Hi, I have a very similar problem… But I use now another plugin, Google XML Sitemaps ruined my site, but it was another bug, not related to your case..

I still have no idea what is the cause of all this trouble, but today I have discovered 1 thing, it can be a cache and script optimization plugin I use. Try to deactivate all cache and optimization plugins… I did it only today and still waiting for the result… I will know it in 1 week more or less…

This is my actual problem… GSC process all my new added sitemaps (I added all sub-sitemaps by separate because GSC shows 0 discovered URLs in the main sitemap.xml.

But GSC process all additional sitemaps and index part of URLs, for example, each sitemap now has 2000 URLs, and I have 264 sitemaps now, so GSC process for example 65 sitemaps and index 1500 URLs and 500 URLs marks as non-indexed. The next day GSC processes the same 65 sitemaps, and now moves 100 URLs from indexed to non-indexed.

The very strange thing is another day GSC processed 10 more sitemaps, and in 4 days those already processed sitemaps looks like unprocessed.

This is not a plugin issue, because I have the same with another plugin now, I think the problem is one of another plugins for cache or script optimizations. Because each sitemap is not an URL, but the request to a BD and script optimization can create problem with this request.
