• Has anyone ever had the problem of not being able to delete a Page?

Last week, I added a new Page to my website titled ABOUT. I ftp-ed to “header.php” and created a link to this ABOUT page on the navigation bar.

After I prettified my permalinks, I decided to delete this ABOUT page and redo the section. I deleted the page from the admin “page management” section. I ftp-ed again to my “header.php” page and deleted the link.

But I can’t seem to get rid of this ABOUT page. When I go to my home page:

    1) the About link remains (even though I took it off the navigation bar at header.php)

    2) the About page still shows up at mysite/?page_id=3 even though it is not listed as a current page.

Is there any other place I need to go and edit this out?

  • I see the link, but when I click it, I get “sorry, no posts matched your criteria”. Try checking your header.php again?
On second glance, it looks like portfolio is linked to the same url.
Do you see the about page in wp admin?

Thanks, I’m a newbie with this, so let me take this one step back. Besides deleting my About page, I’m having trouble with something as simple as changing the title of a Page, for instance — changing a title on my nav bar from “Home” to “Homepage.” I’m using Minima Plus theme.

I went into header.php and changed the following::

    <p class=”profile-link” style=”text-align: right;”>” title=”Go home”>Home

to this, changing the title and the name:

    <p class=”profile-link” style=”text-align: right;”>“title=”Home”>Homepage

However, I can’t seem to be able to change anything. I cleared cache, updated permalinks, but still no change. Do I need to edit this anywhere else? I keep on hearing about .htaccess, but I’m not sure what to write in it, or if it is necessary?
