  • If I understand your request correctly, you only want people to have the option of registering for a user account and blog under the main site. So no one should be able to register a user name or account under one of your network blogs…Is that right?

Are you using WordPress 3.0+ or the old WPMU?

    For WP 3.0+:

Go to supper admin in the sidebar of your dashboard, then click on options from the drop down menu, find the section labeled “Registration Settings”, the first options are where you control how people register.

If you are using WPMU (old school version) let me know and I will see what I can figure out..

Let me know if this helps…

Thanks Chriseggleston for your reply, Yes I am using the latest WP3.0.1 and you are right I want only new user can register a new blog or site under the main site/blog and after that no one can register under any user site/blog as a user.

As you mention about Registration Settings I tried that but not able to get the result which I want, Please guide me from 4 option under Registration Settings which One i have to select to block user registration under sub blog/site.

If someone tries to register for your site when they are at one of your network sites the should be redirected to yourmaindomain.com/wp-signup.php

Make sure that the radio suggesting that “Both sites and user accounts can be registered.” Then I like to uncheck the box just below that that says “Allow site administrators to add new users to their site via the “Users->Add New” page.”

Are people currently registering for new sites under your network user sites?

Allow site administrators to add new users to their site via the “Users->Add New” (this feature is already deselected) is to stop admin to add new user, But when you go to user site at front end side and if Meta Widget is install than still register and login link are there.

Simply I don’t want user registration under network site/blog.

Have you tried that link? I have tested it, and if someone clicks on that link then they will be registered for a new site under the main site network…They will not be registered as a new site under a network site.

If you do not want that option to appear in the sidebar you will need to remove that option from the Twenty Ten theme using the theme editor and going into the sidebar.php file and remove the code for the Meta section that looks like this <?php wp_register(); ?>

No if you remove <?php wp_register(); ?> from sidebar.php but if you drag and drop Meta Widget in sidebar you can still able to see the register and login link in sidebar though you removed <?php wp_register(); ?>.

Let me correct you about your comment

Your Comment was – They will not be registered as a new site under a network site.

Here you mention new site under a network site, in my case no user can register as a user under network site.

if you drag and drop Meta Widget in sidebar from user site you can still able to see the register and login link in sidebar though you removed <?php wp_register(); ?>.

So do you not want people to be able to register at all?

Because you will either need to edit the widget or find a WordPress network plugin that controls registration options or adds more options to the registration control settings.

I do not know of any other settings to turn off the registration throughout your network.

Yes I not want people to be able to register at all but it’s only for network sites not for the main blob. In main blog any one can only create a new site and no user registration.
