Blog page text and translations

Hi – I can’t seem to figure out how to add additional text/copy on the blog page. I’ve selected the page under settings and it works fine listing the recent blogs/articles etc but how can I add some additional copy to the page either above or below the post list? I’ve tried adding text to the page but it’s not appearing.

On another note, we use Polylang to display translated content but we’re not able to update the title of the blog page as it’s set under customizer – is there a way around this?
