I’m currently working with a consulting team for a medical health practice prescribing patients medical marijuana in Texas,?not a dispensary.?The patient leaves with an Rx and treatment plan that they then take to the dispensary to get filled.?Simply put, WooCommerce would be used?only to pay for?patient?appointments. Is this something that falls within WooCommerce Terms of Service?

  • Hi @raixmin

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that WooCommerce will only be used to pay for the patient’s appointments. Can you please provide further information about the workflow of appointments on your site so that we could check this further?

If a screenshot would be helpful, I’d recommend using https://snipboard.io or https://skitch.com/. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Meanwhile, it might be worth checking this support documentation for your reference: WooCommerce and Highly-Regulated Products

    Hope this helps!

Hi @xue28 , thanks for your response!

Yes, so on the website landing page, the patient would click a button to schedule an appointment. From there, they are taken to my client’s Phreesia page (patient intake software) for appointment booking. After the appointment is booked, we would use WooCommerce to facilitate payment for the appointment (to ensure that the patient pays within one hour). My client only sends out prescriptions in these appointments, there is no actual marijuana handled anywhere along the process.

Let me know if you need any more information from me!

    Hi,

I understand the site is prescribing patients and not a dispensary, however, please consider the following:

Please note that many of our customers reside in countries where CBD products are legalized, the production and sales in the country where our company is registered are highly regulated. As a consequence, we are currently unable to offer support for any WooCommerce site that sells CBD oil or other hemp-derived products, whether the CBD oil is over or under 0.3% THC and whether it is derived from hemp or cannabis.

Of course, this is not a judgment call on the legitimacy of your business; our software is used to sell a rich variety of products and we encourage you to continue to do so as well. However, because of our registration, there are some limitations from our side.

When a WooCommerce.com account is created and/or linked to a WordPress.com login, it falls under the WordPress.com Store Guidelines. As such, we do not allow such sites to be connected to our servers. This includes (but is not limited to) WordPress.com, the Jetpack plugin, and any extensions from WooCommerce.com.

Similar to using WordPress for your site, you are welcome to use the core WooCommerce plugin as a connection to WooCommerce.com is not required for this to function. We are, however, not able to offer any support, nor will you be able to get automatic updates for your products. Keep in mind that some website hosts and payment gateways also have similar restrictions in place.

I’m getting mixed answers here. So my understanding is that WooCommerce prohibits its usage for this use case?

    Hi @raixmin,

To clarify, yes you are able to use WooCommerce, but you are unable to use any of Automattic’s services (i.e Use WooCommerce services that depend on a Jetpack, such as WooCommerce Payments, WooCommerce Shipping, WooCommerce Tax, or the WooCommerce Mobile App or Host your site on WordPress.com).

If you aren’t sure about something, please contact us at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support. You may need to create an account before you can access that page.

Please include a link to this forum thread, so that we can keep track of what’s already been done.

We will be able to help you further there.
