  • I know the problem is resolved but I want to share my opinion for other members. When i face this issue on my website then i solve this problem by observing the following points :

Some WordPress themes do not support tags. If this is the case, you can try switching to a different theme that supports tags.

In your WordPress settings, you can choose to disable tags for your posts. To check if tags are disabled, go to your WordPress dashboard and click on “Settings,” then “Writing.” Look for the option “Tags” and make sure it is checked.

Sometimes, a plugin can conflict with the tag feature in WordPress, causing it to disappear. Try disabling any plugins that you recently installed or updated to see if this resolves the issue.

WordPress tags and categories are default taxonomies. They are supported by default on all themes. If you don’t specify a template for them the theme will fall back to the index.php or index.html template depending on if you are running a block theme or classical theme. These are default values that are included with wordpress. They are not a theme option they belong to wordpress taxonomies.

@curiositykillsthecat can you share how did you fix it?

I’m having a very similar problem in a new WordPress installation and I can’t find any reason why. REST APIs seem to work, the Site Health plugins shows no problem, I already disabled all plugins, I have tried both Twenty Twenty-Three and Twenty Twenty themes, and my settings are missing both tags and categories.

I tried the Classic Editor plugin, and it does show tags and categories. But I would prefer to use the new editor.

I checked the Settings in the Dashboard, but the only mention of tags is in Permalinks, and I don’t see how that would help.
