Actually, all of the scenarios that you’re outlining are already possible with current versions of Link Library.
First off, Link Library already includes a widget as well as a series of blocks, all of which can be used in a site’s widget sections. It’s also possible to use a WordPress plugin to be able to have a shortcode widget and use the Link Library shortcode.
You can then create different library configurations for the different scenarios outlined:
- See last added links: It’s possible to limit to only see a certain number of links and to order them by descending publication date
- Prioritized links: Do you mean to see some high priority links ahead of others in a list? If so, it’s possible to tag links as Featured Item in the links editor. They will then appear first when displayed as long as the ‘List Featured Links ahead of Regular Links’ option is checked under the Links tab of Library Configurations
- A link or several link categories: The [link-library] shortcode has a parameter called singlelinkid=”XX” that can be used to display a single link by providing the ID of the link to be displayed.
- Link of the week: You could create a special category called the link of the week, then display only that category on your site, and assign a different link to that special category each week
- Random Link Displayed: The plugin has a random ordering function. You could configure it to only display a single link and also configure to combine all results without categories, then set it to random order and would will get a different link each time.
- Above options with and without images: Can all be achieved by duplicating library configurations and calling up the right one.
