    After updating to the latest version today, the site I’m managing got this critical error:

    Just to clarify, this error appeared after updating your WooCommerce version to 7.4.0?

    I am able to see that the AvaTax plugin is mentioned in the stack trace. Do you perhaps have this plugin installed on your site? If so, please could you temporarily deactivate this and see if that makes any difference?

    If this resolves the issue, please could you clarify if you are using this exact extension?

    Additionally, in order to gain a better understanding of your sites current environment, please could you share a copy of your sites System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce?→?Status. Select?Get system report?and then?Copy for support.

    Once you have this, please share the results in your response here.

    yes, this happened after the update to woocommerce 7.4, which I did about a week after it was released.

    yes, I have this exact plugin installed, version 2.1.0 (which, when it earlier this year, there was an issue that I had to submit to the developer and they pushed a new release out) and No, there was no critical error when Ava tax was deactivated.

    So it seems that AvaTax needs an update to work with WooCommerce 7.4. This is why everything worked when I rolled back to WooCommerce 7.3 on the site.

    Thanks for providing an update!

    Since the issue is no longer present when the AvaTax extension is deactivated, I’d suggest conducting a full conflict test to check if the issue is indeed a conflict with the updated version of WooCommerce on your site, or if it is related to another plugin on your site which may be conflicting with it.

    To test, you’ll want to deactivate all plugins?except for WooCommerce and AvaTax?and take a look. If that fixes the problem, re-enable the other plugins one by one (gradually), checking after each, to see where the issue is coming from.

    If you don’t want to test on your live site, then create a staging site using a plugin called?WP Staging.

    Should the issue persists while only the AvaTax extension, and WooCommerce are active on your site, pease contact us directly at WooCommerce.com → My Account → Support for further help and troubleshooting.

    You can select “Help with my extensions”, and then choose Avalara AvaTax from the dropdown, as seen in the screenshot below:

    You may need to create an account before you can access that page. Also, please include a link to this forum thread, so that they can keep track of what’s already been done.

    Hello @roxannestoltz
    I’ve done what you stated above. The issue only happens with the WooCommerce AvaTax plugin is active. I’ve contacted Avalara Support – Support ticket # 23366910.

    My question is why is this not handled by WooCommerce? It shows as a WooCommerce extension?

    The AvaTax extension is not made by us, also support for it is provided by the Avalara team.

    You find all this information on the extension’s page.

    Not all plugins on WooCommerce.com are made by the WooCommerce team, we work with many partners as well. ??

    @cdiazorases noticed these same errors on our site as well. You get any update from AvaTax on the plugin and when a fix might be put in place?

    @mwmatter ultimately the issue was with WooCommerce v 7.4. The issue resolved with v 7.4.1 – I haven’t installed v. 7.5 yet.
