Searches not pulling from tags

    Hello,

    We have Relevanssi installed on our WordPress site, and have for a number of years, but recently the search function only pulls from our product titles and is no longer pulling from tags or relevant searches. We updated to the newest version 4.18.3 as well as tried activating and deactivating but neither option worked.

    We are using WordPress version 5.6 and have the below indexed:

    19005 documents in the index.

    441065 terms in the index.
    2 is the lowest post ID indexed.

    I’m wondering if we need to reinstall an older version? We updated our WordPress version at the end of November and we noticed the search function issues in early December, if that’s relevant. And it seems it might be working with newer items we’ve loaded but not everything or items loaded previously.

    Please check some products with the Relevanssi debugger (Settings > Relevanssi > Debugging). Is all relevant content indexed?

    Can you show me your site? If you can, please enable the debugging mode and point me to a search that is not working as you expect it to.

    Thank you so much for your response. I not sure if all relevant content is indexed but it appears so given the number of items we have indexed. Our website is password protected, is there a way I could email you the passcode so you can see it? If so, I’ll turn on the debugging mode.

    An example, for more context, would be that searching “horse” should pull up all images we’ve tagged with “horse” but it is currently only pulling up images that have “horse” in the title. This never used to be the case and if you look in the product category for horses, there are a lot more images that show. The same happens when searching a color and so on.

    Asking you to contact me outside the forums would be a breach of the forum rules, so that’s unfortunately out of the question.

    Pick one of the posts with the “horse” tag and note it’s ID. Enter the ID to the Relevanssi debugger at Settings > Relevanssi > Debugging. It’ll show you how Relevanssi sees the post. If the indexing is set up correctly, you should see the word “horse” appear in the taxonomy section. Does it?

    If it does, Relevanssi is working correctly, but your search is not using Relevanssi.

    If it doesn’t, Relevanssi is not set up correctly. Make sure the correct taxonomy is chosen for indexing in the Relevanssi indexing and rebuild the index.

    Thank you so much for your response. I followed the steps you listed and while it looked like it was indexing correctly, I rebuilt the index just in case and that worked!
