I am having issues connecting with Site Kit. The plugin is giving me the google_api_connection_fail

The plugin was working before but just suddenly stopped.

Thanks for reaching out @kerralmario. From the Site Health information form received I can see you’re using Dreamhost, and we are aware of a particular issue with IP v6 connections to the Site Kit service from particular servers. So we can confirm this is the case with you, can you confirm your host IP v6 address with your host? We can then see if this is also geolocating to a region that blocks Google services as others are experiencing.

I have assigned a new ipv6 address to my domain, will that fix it?

Thanks for the update @kerralmario. When you mention you’ve assigned a new IPv6 address, I assume you added AAAA records to the domain, referencing your host IPv6 address? If so unfortunately I don’t think this will allow you to proceed if the IPv6 address is the same as when you reported this week. Let me know the IPv6 address and I’ll check this with the team to see if it’s blocked based on it’s geolocation.

Where can I safely/privately message you the iPv6 address?

You can use this form to share your Site Health information, while including your IPv6 address. Thank you!

@kerralmario The checks have not been completed at this time. I will check with the team later today and let you know once done.

@kerralmario I have just discussed this with the team who have checked and confirmed that your IPv6 address was initially blocked but has since been updated and should no longer be blocked meaning you shouldn’t see this issue.

Please do note however that this may take a little while to take effect on your side so I would suggest giving this some time before letting us know if it still isn’t working.

Thanks so much for your patience with this!

How did we get blocked? We were using the plugin before without any issues. Why the sudden block? Is it an automated system that does it? If so, what are the criteria for that?

Apparently, I was able to connect and see some stats for a few hours, but then it stopped working again. Not sure what’s really happening with this plugin. @adamdunnage @jamesosborne

@kerralmario This could still be resolving itself so please allow a little more time. This was due to the IPv6 being part of a block that also includes IPs from a banned region.

@kerralmario Just checking in here to see if this has now resolved itself for you?

    (@kerralmario)

Hey @adamdunnage , yes it did resolve itself and it’s still working.
