menu missing appearance item

  • The menu item “appearance” and “widgets” is missing from the wp-admin, and tools is empty. I haven’t been in the site admin for a while, did something change? Every forum solution I find tells me to go to the Appearance menu item which is not terribly helpful, since that is what is missing. I have several WP sites exhibiting this same problem. That and most of the topics in the forum have been closed, so here is a new one.

    Are you able to check to be sure your username is still set up with Administrator role?
