Order creation is extremely slow (5-20 minutes)

Hi, I have a B2B site that needs to manage large orders. It is for a clothing distributor, so with size/color variations.
I can have an order of 50-60 products that, with variations, can generate 3.000-6.000 “pieces” in the cart (I mean, if product A red size S has 5 items and blu size S has 3 items, I count 8 “pieces” in total).
Each product can have from 4-5 (single color, multiple sizes) to 50-100 variations (multiple colors for each size).
There is no payment gateway as it is for reseller that will pay later.
as I click on “place order” button, the circle starts rotating and it remains that way for a time that may vary from 4-5 minutes to even 20 minutes.
The confirmation email arrive a couple of minutes before circle finish to rotate and lead to the confirmation page.
I already tried to:
– disable all the plugins except Woocommerce
– run it with twenty-twentytwo theme
– use add_filter( ‘woocommerce_defer_transactional_emails’,’__return_true’ );
– disable ajax on woocommerce > settings > products > general
– change server, it was on a good one, now is on a high performance server but the problem persists.
Any idea on why it happens and how to solve it?

Please consider that the staging site is currently used to create a new theme and for other purpose, so actually has many active plugins, but, as said, the test made with default theme and only woocommerce active gave the same problem.

Sorry to hear that the issue persists.
It took more than 30 minutes?to be completed...I was inspecting the site using a Chrome extension called Lighthouse, and it is pointing out performance issues:
Regarding the orders, you can switch the site theme to Storefront and disable all plugins except WooCommerce to see if that way it works without issues.
You can use the Meks Quick Plugin Disabler, this plugin will remember what other plugins you currently have active, so it’s easy to switch them back on.
